This course teaches students how to build believable, cinematic environments for games, animation, and film. It’s not just about pretty landscapes — it’s about telling stories through space, architecture, light, and mood. Students learn to build entire worlds from scratch, using visual logic and atmosphere to make imaginary places feel real.
Course Structure
Month 1 :
Foundations of Space & Mood:
We begin with understanding how space works in storytelling. Students learn perspective, composition, and how to guide the eye across a scene. You’ll explore how real-world logic influences fantasy worlds, and start building environments that feel grounded even in the surreal. Exercises will help you break down masterworks and explore simple but powerful ways to imply scale, emotion, and depth.
Month 2 :
Stylization & Story through Design:
This month is about finding your visual voice. Students explore stylized vs. realistic approaches, draw from references, and build mood boards that guide visual decision-making. You’ll start crafting environments that reflect narrative tone — moody, bright, alien, dystopian — while learning how to use light, shape, and cultural cues to deepen immersion.
Month 3 :
Building a Final World:In the final month, you’ll develop one standout environment from idea to polished render. We’ll guide you through thumbnails, value studies, color explorations, and cinematic composition. By the end, you’ll have a rich, portfolio-ready piece that shows your ability to design spaces that don’t just look good — they feel alive.
